Ahead of their Moth Club (London) show together on March 30th 2024 Emily and Bastien have worked together on a remix of Emily’s, Down in the Deep.

The original version of Down in the Deep is part of Emily’s SHE EP, which released in June this year.

Both Emily and Bastien Keb will be releasing albums with Def Pressé in 2024.

Emily’s SHE EP received praise from BBC 6 Music and is Emily’s first release with Def Pressé. With her unique ethereal and otherworldly style, artist and producer Emily delves deep into her experiences of being a woman and wider archetypes of the light and dark feminine.

“I created this EP as an exploration of the feminine- I wanted to encapsulate the light and the dark of it, and the complex, beautiful and messy experience I’ve had being a woman. She Said is sunshine, a celebration of my best friends and women generally, a party, magic spell and a thank you to them. I recorded them all singing as part of the production as I wanted them to be a part of the track.
Blistered Tongue grew out of my being scared of the dark, imagining ghosts or sinister creatures existing there, only to realise perhaps they are only reflections of my own shadow and how important it is to look at that. I was reading about how ghost stories and archetypes of monsters, witches etc are used to allow space for our collective psyche to put the things we are afraid of in ourselves and the world around us, so I created this track as this space. Down in the Deep is a passage between the two, I imagined myself drifting around the bottom of the sea with leftover parts of civilization”.

‘She’ is a project which is both deeply personal and universal. With lyrics exploring advice given by friends and the value of community, wrestling with dark parts of yourself and your place in society, it’s an ambitious and thrilling journey packed into three left-field pop songs.
